NUE2007 Over View of Nuclear Engineering
This course will cover the over view of the nuclear engineering including nuclear physics, neutron crosssection, neutron attenuation, neutron energy loss mechanism, radiation interactions with matter, fission reaction, nuclear reactors, nuclear fuel cycle, radiation applications, etc. This course will prepare the students for the advanced nuclear engineering courses.

NUE3061 Momentum and Heat Transfer
An Introduction to the conservation of mass/momentum/energy and the basic mechanisms of conduction/convection/radiation heat transfer. This course aimed for the learning fundamental knowledge on heat and mass transfer.

COE3051 Engineering Mathematics 1
In this subject, we learn ordinary differential equation(O.D.E.), linear differential equation(L.D.E.), series, series solution in differential equations and Laplace transformation systematically based on differential and integral calculus (fundamental prerequisite). Moreover, we improve ability to make these basic concepts and principles applicable.

COE3053 Engineering Mathematics 3
This course studies solution methodologies (separation of variables and integral transform technique) of partial differential equation with the basic concepts of engineering mathematics 1 and 2. This provides the understanding of the derivations of PDEs through vector analysis and coordinate transformation. PDEs such as Laplace, diffusion, and wave equations and their solutions through the separation of variables, Fourier transform, and Laplace transform.

NUE4056 CAPSTON DESIGN 1
Students will plan and design to solve the problems, which they can face in the real fields, based on their work experiences acquired in the undergraduate course. The topic and a specific subject will be chosen from one of the two fields in Nuclear engineering (Nuclear Reactor, Radiation Technology).

Fall Semester

NUE2010 Nuclear Reactor Engineering
Lecture discusses the basic nuclear reactor principles including the interactions of neutron with matters, nuclear reaction and reaction cross sections, structure of nuclear reactors, neutron diffusion and slowing down, neutron diffusion equation, nuclear reactor criticality, multiplication factor, nuclear reactor kinetic sequations for transient reactors, reactivity coefficients, reactivity control methods, etc.

NUE4014 Nuclear Reactor Thermal-Hydraulics
Heat generation and distribution in the reactor core, mechanism of heat removal by coolant flow, critical thermal factor and there lated theory for reactor design and boiling and two-phase flow phenomena. Also, basic fundamentals for heat transfer in reactor core and reactor thermal design.

NUE4058 Applied Thermal Hydraulics Experiment
This course provides experimental programs to cultivate student’s hands-on experience through the lab scale experiments of nuclear thermal hydraulics occurs in the nuclear power plant systems. Measurements of forced convective pressure drop and heat transfer, onset of nucleate boiling, critical heat flux and nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficients, and thermophysical properties of thermal fluid will be performed in the various thermodynamic conditions. Co-run by the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Seoul National University and Kyunghee University, visualization of pool boiling phase change phenomena and single- and multi-phase flow will be experimented to nourish advanced and skilled nuclear engineers who can adapt themselves easily in the related fields of nuclear industry and research.

NUE4058 Applied Thermal System Design for Nuclear Energy Applications

COE3052 Engineering Mathematics 2
In this subject, we learn complex functions, complex analysis functions, fundamental complex functions, Conformal mapping, linear fractional transformation, line integral in the complex plane, Cauchy’s integral theorem and integral formula, derivatives in analysis function, power series, Taylor’s series, Laurent’s series, residue integration, ideal integration, matrix multiplication systematically. This subject is a prerequisite for understanding special subjects and helps us improve mathematical and scientific way of thinking.
